Interviews > Research > Sketches & Prototypes > Design
To create this project, several interviews were conducted with the inhabitants of the village and planned excursions were taken to locations where the specific plants were prevalent. This research was conducted over the course of a full year to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the plant foods available at different seasons. The design aesthetic combines traditional illustrations of the plants with contemporary, lively typography to reflect the organic and ever-changing aspects of nature.
The completed project, Local Traditions - Raw-Edible Wild Plants of the Mediterranean, is a beautifully designed, practical guide that serves as a valuable resource for foragers, chefs, and anyone interested in the natural culinary traditions of the Mediterranean. The project successfully merges traditional knowledge with modern design, creating a guide that honors the past while appealing to contemporary audiences. It stands as a testament to the rich botanical heritage of the Mediterranean and provides practical tools for preserving and enjoying this natural bounty.
